Nike Unveils Nike+ Basketball and Nike+ Training

nike plus 2012 basketball training-05

Yes, Nike is still not done. We are currently attending the second day of the Nike Innovation Summit in New York. Yesterday we previewed the Nike Lunarglide+4, the Nike Flyknit Racer, the Nike Lunar Safari, the Nike Current 2012 and the all new HTM Collection. Today we continue with more innovation, less on the product side, but more on the technological side of things.

Nike today unveiled Nike+ Basketball and Nike+ Training, two new experiences connecting digitally enabled footwear with interactive mobile applications that together deliver a revolutionary sport experience. First unveiled for running products in 2006, NIKE+ has grown into a community of six million digitally connected athletes and is set to expand with the recent launch of the NIKE+ FuelBand, a wrist-based device designed to track everyday activity.

The new Nike+ Basketball experience breaks down the user’s game to deliver information and measurement, which in turn provides motivation. Nike+ Basketball measures how high, how hard and how quick players play each game.

Check out the video here below to see how it works.

Nike Air Foamposite One “Galaxy” – Launch Camp Out + Line-Up | Event Recap

Nike Air Foamposite One Galaxy Launch Camp Out + Line Up | Event Recap

It was during the Air Jordan XI Concord’s launch last December that a Nike insider cryptically hinted to us that more pandemonium was to come for 2012. That premonition is finally upon us this weekend as  drops the Air Foamposite One “Galaxy” for the 2012 NBA All-Star Game. Since the flashy edition will be more exclusive than the Air Jordan XI Concord (only 3 stores will serve the entire isle of Manhattan). Sneaker heads have taken preemptive measures 2 whole weeks before the launch. Many forgo Valentine’s Day last week and slept in their cars just for the opportunity to get a wristband at 21 Mercer this morning. Others created mini encampments, with lounge chairs, sleeping bags, and pitched tents, outside of Foot Locker – House of Hoops at 34th Street. Though unconfirmed, some said the encampment along 125th Street at the original  in Harlem was even larger. Whatever the case might be, 2012 is becoming one of most interesting year for sneakers. Not to mention the Air Yeezy 2 isn’t even out yet…

Nike Lunar Flow Woven QS

Nike Lunar Flow Woven QS

The Nike Lunar Flow carries on with the material upgrades, further distancing itself from the original Nike Air Flow silhouete that it owes its design to. That’s not a complaint mind you, as any extended use of the woven treatment is a plus in an era when the quilted look seems to be relegated to footscape releases and the like. Not quite going rainbow-bright in the vein of the initial woven looks to hit the market, the  Lunar Flow Woven QS goes for a still colorful look that staggers the brighter shades throughout the patterning. Hit the jump to get the detailed shots and pick either pair up now from atmos.

Jeremy Lin’s Favorite Sneakers

Jeremy Lins Favorite Sneakers

Jeremy Lin’s ascendance has been so meteoric — in an already compressed NBA schedule — that there are multiple ongoing narratives surrounding the New York Knicks point guard by way of Harvard and Palo Alto High. Most pressing for Knicks fans are the ramifications for Melo’s return to the starting lineup, not to mention the recent signing of his buddy J.R. Smith, and how those players will mesh with Jeremy’s game. Outside the lines, basketball fans want to know more about the guy who’s singlehandedly making the Knicks relevant again. In a “Charge the Court” segment from Nike Basketball, Jeremy tackles an especially tough question — “What is your favorite  shoe of all time?” Check out his answer in the short video following the click.

Nike Air Force 1 Low 30th Anniversary Series

Nike Air Force 1 Low 30th Anniversary Sneaker Series

Nike is slowly getting into the 30th anniversary of its iconic Air Force 1 sneaker. Today we present the first two sneakers celebrating the special anniversary. White on white and black on black versions in interesting material combinations are being presented, featuring a special ‘XXX’ logo placed on the in-sole, hinting at the occasion. Furthermore they added a special ‘XXX’ lace lock.

“The white versions features uppers constructed mainly from 3M light reflective synthetic leather, while the translucent soles are slightly off-white, which makes for subtle contrast to a simple colour scheme.

The blacks employ a denim fabric almost all over the shoes, including the midsoles! Black nubuck leather is used for the swooshes, on the heels and as piping around the panels, again providing rather interesting details for a basic colourway.”

Take a further look at the two sneakers after the jump.

Nike Air Max 90 – White – Dark Shadow – Red

Nike Air Max 90 White Dark Shadow Red

Did Jeff Staple get his hands on a pair of  Air Max 90′s? That’s not what’s going on here, but nonetheless it’s hard to take a look at this pair and not be reminded of his classic ‘Pigeon’ design for that most sought after of  SB Dunks. Mixing a two tone grey blocking on the upper with hits of white and shadow red make for a pair that’s toned down a few notches in comparison to recent releases, but still manages to stand out thanks to the iconic colorway. Also notable is the unique material found on the white sectioning on the upper, a sort of gridded nylon in place of the traditional mesh. Check out the full shots we’ve got for you and pick these up now from JD Sports across the pond.
